Reformation Celebration this Sunday Evening

As mentioned on Sunday morning this Sunday night we will be meeting up at the Main Campus to enjoy a Reformation Celebration.  Pastor Pat is going to teach on the Reformation and we will enjoy a time of corporate singing.  At the conclusion of our time we will enjoy Reformation-inspired desserts.  Three awards will be given for the 'best' desserts.  The criteria will be based on the best presentation, most theological and best tasting.  Reeces Pieces Thesis? Diet of Worm-Cake? Calvin Cake?

Some Miscellaneous Items

I do hope that you are off to a good start on your week and are enjoying the blessed reality of truly knowing Christ.  Specifically that you are being refreshed with thanksgiving as you are walking in Christ (Col. 2.6-7).

There are a few items that I wanted to note that should be of benefit to you.

Care Group Location Changes *this weekend only*

As many of you know, several of the leaders at South Campus will be heading on up to MN to attend the Desiring God National Conference.  This will cause them to miss Sunday night's Care Group.  As a result, we have combined the groups into two locations and ask that if you are staying behind that you pick one of the two spots and come and join the party.  We will be continuing our study in Galatians 4.

The God-Centered-ness of Your Salvation

Revelation 5:9 And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.

A Report from Neighborhood Evangelism

"I believe I can live a good life and God will accept me" -- that's one of several man-centered statements that I heard as we canvassed the neighborhood, sharing about OBC-South and bringing the Gospel to Sarpy County. We met at 8:30am on Saturday morning and enjoyed food, fellowship, and prayer. Then, we began distributing postcards about the Gospel and OBC throughout our neighborhood.

Great Opportunities for Fellowship this Weekend

It is truly a unique blessing to spend time with other believers.  We truly have a deeply embedded kindred joy with one another that transcends and surpasses anything with roots to this earth.  I know this is somehting that I far too frequently take for granted,  but it is something that I pray that God will continue to impress us with the value of.

This weekend we have the opportunity to spend time together with other believers on a couple of different venues.

Info on the South Campus Neighborhood Blitz

We are excited about the number of folks that God has been bringing to OBC South to hear the word and participate in ministry.  We also want to help try to get the word out about what we are doing here.

Communion this Sunday Morning

This weekend we have the privilege of celebrating the Lord's Supper together as we gather on Sunday morning. I think it would be fitting to take a couple of minutes and highlight some things about communion, specifically with respect to your partaking of it with other believers. Hopefully what follows serves to fuel Christ-centered, God-exalting thinking and enjoyment of Communion.

Helping to Prepare Our Hearts for the Word

It was suggested to me by someone recently that we add the passage that we are planning to study the upcoming week in the current bulletin. This would then help individuals and families to spend time in that passage during the week in view of studying it on Sunday morning.

This was an excellent idea and one I'm thankful for. You will now see the sermon text for the following week inside the first page under "opportunities to learn".

A Way for All of Us to Serve: Keep an Eye on the Time

It has been such a blessing to gather together on Sunday mornings now for the last 4 weeks at the South Campus.  I feel like I am beginning to get my bearings a bit and things are almost beginning to feel normal.

When you combine a new environment, new ministries, new people, and new responsibilities together, sometimes you get new challenges.  One such challenge for us over the past few weeks has been staying on schedule.  Specifically I am referring to the dropping off and picking up of children and getting into the auditorium for the start of the 10:00 Service.
