A Way for All of Us to Serve: Keep an Eye on the Time
It has been such a blessing to gather together on Sunday mornings now for the last 4 weeks at the South Campus. I feel like I am beginning to get my bearings a bit and things are almost beginning to feel normal.
When you combine a new environment, new ministries, new people, and new responsibilities together, sometimes you get new challenges. One such challenge for us over the past few weeks has been staying on schedule. Specifically I am referring to the dropping off and picking up of children and getting into the auditorium for the start of the 10:00 Service.
As a result, I am asking for your assistance to make things run a little more smoothly on Sunday mornings.
Some Ways You Can Help
Sunday School: It is important (not to mention curtious) to be at the classrooms to pick up our kids at 9:45. This enables the Sunday School teachers to get their rooms cleaned up, grab a quick drink, perhaps say hello to some friends, and make their way into the auditorium. As a parent of little ones I know that I have often gotten caught up in conversation or something else and not been there on time. However, I have to remember that I have the opportunity to serve these workers by being on time.
Corporate Worship: We are blessed to be able to talk with friends and new folks on Sunday mornings while enjoying the coffee, juice and sweets that are provided. However, sometimes we end up enjoying these things well past 10. We can likewise serve Armand and the music team, along with the nursery team by starting on time at 10. The easiest way to do this is to just be on top of the time yourself, make it a point to gather your family and head on into the auditorium so that we may start together promptly at 10.
Nursery: This obviously flows with the other points above. Please be on time to pick up your little ones following the service. And if you would, please apologize for the pastor who might have gone a little long on the sermon :-)
It seems that the easiest way to help establish a good flow on Sunday mornings is to have the members of OBC South 'lead' the way by moving on at the correct times. Since we are smaller this will undoubtedly help with the bulk of our issues. Please make a point this week to help stay on schedule and serve others who are themselves aiming to serve the body of Christ.
If this is the biggest problem that we are having then we are doing well. So let's just keep smiling and serving while trying to, in view of the glory of God, humbly consider the needs of others over ourselves (Phil. 2).
For the glory of Christ,
Erik
