Helping to Prepare Our Hearts for the Word

It was suggested to me by someone recently that we add the passage that we are planning to study the upcoming week in the current bulletin. This would then help individuals and families to spend time in that passage during the week in view of studying it on Sunday morning.
This was an excellent idea and one I'm thankful for. You will now see the sermon text for the following week inside the first page under "opportunities to learn".
It is always helpful to personally become acquainted with a text through reading, prayer, meditation, and application, but especially before the corporate study of the Word of God together.
Since we are going verse by verse through Colossians, this really helps us to build continuity in terms of context and theme. Think of the impact of praying through, meditating in, and even perhaps, memorizing the entire book of Colossians!
This week we are continuing our look at "The Resume of Jesus" particularly His relationship to creation, Colossians 1:16-17.
